So where the hell did it all go?
I have been heroically busy this semester with school and work, where I am engaged in weekly discussions on dense legal and theoretical readings. Its pretty cool, I suppose. Except for the Marxism. I read once Adorno/Horkheimer piece that was literally 15 pages with SIX paragraphs. There isn't much in my theory courses, but one can not avoid a serious historical/theoretical discussion of communications without it. I suppose.
Law is becoming an area of interest ot me. Brandeis and Scalia are rather brilliant, when one gives them the chance. I had an undergraduate version of the CommLaw course I am currently enrolled in. It is quite a task keeping up with the volumonouos reading requirements (and hence, the lack of bloggin' and freewheelin')!
There has been sweeping change across the Middle East of late- namely, the massive pro-democracy demonstrations in Lebanon, elections across Iraq, demonstrations in the West Banks and Isreal for peace and democracy, as well as Algeria and Egypt, AND a women's movement in Kuwait last month (whew). WMD components and equpiment have also been revealed ( by the Old Grey Lady herself) smuggled and moved around Iraq before and during the beginning of the war.
From what I can gather in the mainstream press, there is constant death and destruction in Iraq, Michael Jackson is in court and is in a pajamaload of trouble. Its cold here in Philly (22 of 23 days under the regional average) , and there has been an explosion of shootings ( 25 or so in a week...or some ridiculous ratio similar to that). The huffed-and-puffed smoking ban has just been blown to pieces by a wide margin. I've quit myself. Figures.
Interesting times. Bush was right....I will be back when time allows
