Fact Checking Clinton's Mountain of Lies
Where to begin - the truth, as it always does, is coming out.
Firstly, there's good reason to believe that this was done on purpose, to try to energize Democrats "intimidated' by their own weak records supporting the national security initiatives of the United States. Facts and easily Googled history be damned.
Secondly, here's former Clintonista Dick Morris slamming Clinton's dishonesty and fact-challenged rant. Condi Rice also slapped the Liar in Chief with some facts of her own (which Clinton also lied about). Two more former Clinton advisors, CIA Bin Laden unit leader Michael Scheuer and intel advisor Fran Townsend also throttle Clinton's assertions that he had a "comprehsnsive plan" that he "left in place" for Bush.
Clinton urged viewers 11 times to "read Richard Clarke's book." Byron York wonders if Clinton actually read it, because Richard Clarke, who Clinton asserted "was demoted" upon Bush's arrival, disputes the Liar in Chief's hysterical historical revisionism in his own book, Against All Enemies on page 234, where we find out it was Clarke who wanted to leave the post (he was not demoted - he left):
"I had completed the review of the organizational options for homeland defense and critical infrastructure protection that Secretary Rice had asked me to conduct. To pile on, Former Clinton-era FBI Cheif Louis Freeh wrote in his 2005 book My FBI, that Clinton wasn't exactly the terrorist-slaying cowboy he tried to paint himself as this past weekend - demolishing the notion when writing about Clinton's response to the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing:
"There was agreement to create a separate senior White House position for critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity outside the NSC staff. Condi Rice and Steve Hadley assumed that I would continue on the NSC, focusing on terrorism and asked whom I had in mind for the new job that would be created outside the NSC. This is basically Internet. I requested that I be given that assignment, to the apparent surprise of Condi Rice and Steve Hadley."
President Clinton had sent the FBI to investigate and promised Americans that those responsible would pay. “The cowards who committed this murderous act must not go unpunished. Let me say it again: we will pursue this. America takes care of our own. Those who did it must not go unpunished,” the president said.Freeh also blasted Clinton's failures to respond to the Khobar Towers in a powerful June 2006 Wall Street Journal op-ed. The Liar in Chief denies all this, but as we know from past dealings with Clinton, he's a compulsive and brazen liar (Lewinsky) and his claims should be treated as such (as should the claims of his supporters). Hence, the justified fact-checking and scrutiny of the content (not the raw emotions) of this weekend's interview.
But Freeh says the President failed to keep his promise.
The FBI wanted access to the suspects the Saudis had arrested but then-Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar said the only way to get access to prisoners would be if the president personally asked the crown prince for access.
Freeh says Clinton did not help him. He writes in his book:
“Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudi’s reluctance to cooperate, and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library.”
There's also a large and comprehensive debunking of the Liar in Chief's tirade from GOP.com. Before you libs get up in arms, you'd better read the sourcing of the debunking - argue with their meticulous sourcing. It includes such right-wing sources as the Washington Post, the AP, UPI, Atlanta Journal Constitution, FOX News, Africa News, the Ventura Country Star, the New York Times, CNN, MoveOn.org, Richard Clarke, Mark Bowden, etc.
In other words, Clinton's own words and lies were recorded in a multitude of places over the years, and he doesn't remember what he said to whom and why. Even many of his own people, who Clinton tried to blame for his failures and inept attempts to "get Bin Laden," aren't stomaching this bullcrap.
When 90% of what comes out of your mouth is a lie, that's what happens. Hard to maintain the lies as they start to spiral out of your control.
